Quechua and Asháninka indigenous communities join the Indigenous Navigator to demand their rights

ONAMIAP, together with its regional bases in Ayacucho, Cusco and Junín —after coordination meetings and presentation of the Indigenous Navigator initiative to Quechua and Asháninka indigenous communities—, confirmed the decision to document their situation and carry out advocacy actions for the recognition and realization of their individual and collective rights.

Within this framework, ONAMIAP, in an articulated effort with the Federation of Rural Women of Anta (FEMCA), the Regional Federation of Indigenous Women of Ayacucho (FEREMIA), and the Organization of Asháninca Amazonian Indigenous Women of the Central Jungle (OMIAASEC), come in dialogue with the authorities of the Quechua peasant communities of Uchuraccay and Chungui, Ayacucho region; Urinsaya Ccollana Huarocondo, Cusco region and the native Asháninka communities of Boca Cheni, La Esperanza and Pachacutec, Chanchamayo province, Junín region to join the Indigenous Navigator.

These activities are carried out within the framework of the project “Indigenous Navigator. Towards the full and effective recognition and realization of the rights of Indigenous Peoples”, implemented by ONAMIAP in alliance with the International Working Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA) and the financial support of the European Union.
